EDUCATIONAL GAMES
This first hour of time is designed so the student can come directly from school to the program, without any lapsed time in between, and so the volunteers have the chance to connect personally with the students while teaching them integrity and participation. This also gives the students time to unwind from being at school.
COMPUTER LAB
Our computer lab is equipped with 10 internet accessible work stations which feature the following software programs to students learn:
- Elementary and Middle School Advantage – 10 Subject: Tutors students in elementary and middle school subjects.
- Math Blaster – Pre-Algebra and Algebra – Helps build math skills through games.
- Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing – Typing tests, drills and games with progress tracking.
- Before You Know It – Math flashcards, drills and exercises.
- Mind Power Math – Pre-Algebra and Algebra – Math games and exercises.
RECREATION
The program has access to the Champion Center gymnasium that is our center for our recreation time. It is our desire to not only enrich the students academically, but we also want to enrich the students athletically. Having a recreation time is a way for students to let out energy and get some physical activity. The activities during recreation may include a game of basket ball or a game of tag. We want to have games that are fun for the more athletic and the students who just want to have fun.
